When I was a little girl I remember only ever having one babysitter. She was a good friend of my grandma’s and must have been in her 60s or 70s when I knew her. I remember her quite vividly because we did not have babysitters. Her name was Velda.

One of my fondest memories is going to Velda’s house and making cookies. I must have been around three or four years old. She let me play with the cookie dough and roll it out and then we cut out the cookies with all of her different cookie cutters. We decorated them too. I just remember that I had a wonderful time and I thought she was a very nice lady.

The other thing I remember about Velda though were her arms. She wasn’t an obese woman. I would say she was average size for her age and time. But her upper arms were very big and they didn’t seem to go with the rest of her body. They did not have any muscle tone. My sister and I both vowed that we would never let our arms get like that!

Now firmly in middle age myself I see that my upper arms WANT to get like that if I let them. Before I had Rosie, my Jazzercise routine kept that at bay, but now at home I had to find some other inexpensive and fun way of working the muscles in my upper body to keep them toned and firm. What better place to start than with The FIRM!

I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks now and can really see the difference. It’s a tough tape and it requires the use of light, medium and heavy weights. I use 5 pounds and 8 pound weights and hold the two 5 pounders when I need something heavier. This tape starts with a gentle warm up and then gets right into the work. Some of it is kind of challenging. The first time the instructor wanted me to put my legs on the fanny lifter and do sit ups I’m sure I looked less than graceful, but now it’s a piece of cake. I keep the fanny lifter under my my thighs, but as my strength improves I can move it back farther. It works all of the muscles of the arms and the back and chest. I think they also found some creative, fun and effective way to use the sculpting stick to stretch out the arms and the muscles in the back and chest. The neat thing is when the tape starts to feel easier, you can just add more weight to add more challenge to the workout!

Hopefully by sticking with this, my upper arms will be noticed for the right reasons!Works for Me!
