Mothers of Large Families – Between a rock and a hard place!

Spread the love

I just read this comment on another blog:

BTW — I do have to laugh at these uberconservatives who, on the one hand, want to promote the notion of having baby after baby after baby, and then, on the other, can’t stop reminding everyone how burdened they are and what a terrible cross it all is to bear…sometimes reading through those kinds of blogs is the best damned birth control I can think of.

Now I was the one that had to laugh! A few times over the past few years I have read distinct criticisms of MOM (Moms of Many) blogs, saying that they must be painting too rosy of a picture of their lives, that everything couldn’t be that good, and that their blogs are unrealistic because they never air their dirty laundry. (I might mention that I did write a blog post on how my kid’s aren’t perfect – and I got criticized for that too!)

So which is it? Too whiney or too squeeky clean? I personally haven’t read any blogs that leaned too much one way or the other. What I personally like to read are blogs that tell THE TRUTH and keep it real. So in diet blogs I like to read about successes and failures, great weight losses and honest set backs! Same with blogs about spirituality, finances, education, infertility etc. So for a Catholic mom’s blog there is going to be a lot about the beauty of the church’s teaching, and stuff about the daily struggle as well! That’s the ebb and flow of life and I think all of it makes for an interesting read.

Nor has the Church failed before the assaults of demons: for she is like a tower of refuge to all who fight against the Devil.
Saint Thomas Aquinas
