Is the Christian God and the Muslim God the same?

Apparently it depends on who you ask. Here is one Protestant site that says no.

s the Muslim God and the Christian God the same? Some say Christianity and Islam are ‘sister’ religions. But the answer is no, they are not the same gods, nor are they ‘sister’ religions. Comparing the nature, character, the instructions and teachings of each, and usually the practices of their believers, we can quickly see the differences.

There are indeed differences; however historically Muslims, the Jewish Faith and Christianity all have deep roots in Abraham, the patriarch. It is our understanding of what God has revealed that differs. I tend to think the following two links are closer.

This Protestant site says yes, sort of:

Being when they refer to God–the Creator God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob. But in significant ways they do not have the same understanding about him, even though they also agree in significant ways.

And the Catholic view from Vatican II

Nostra Aetate of Vatican Council 2 says: “The Church has also a high regard for the Muslims. They worship God, who is one, living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has also spoken to men. They strive to submit themselves without reserve to the hidden decrees of God, just as Abraham submitted himself to God’s plan, to whose faith Muslims eagerly link their own.”
