Why Do I Blog?

Spread the love

I blog because I can. I blog because everyone needs a soap box, a place to put out their views, their hopes, their comments, their dreams, their goals, their triumphs, their griefs and their failures. This is mine.

I blog because I have learned more skills (HTML coding for example) and because I have learned so much from my fellow bloggers.

I blog because I wish my grandparents did. My grandfather was a Humphrey Democrat. What would he have thought of the party today? What were his deepest thoughts during Watergate? What did he think after Vatican II? I wish I had a record of that. I wish as an adult I could read his thoughts now and have a better understanding than when I was a teenager. I want my children to have that. I want them to be able to see what I thought about things. This is the modern day journal or log!

I blog because it is a good record of of where my family was at a particular point in time. I blog because it helps me to remember. I blog because I’m not a big scrapbook type of gal.

I blog also because I wanted to meet like-minded folks and discuss with not so likeminded folks. I blog because I can talk to people at my convenience and they can respond at theirs, something that busy homeschool parents, or any busy adults might find more convenient than a telephone call. I comment on comment boxes because I assume that if people have comment boxes, they want to hear from people! I assume that people who comment in comment boxes what to read other civil comments as well.

Visitors might not agree with what I say. Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled that it was constitutional to desicrate the American Flag. Freedom of Speech and expression and all of that.

I was tempted to delete this blog that I have written in for over two years. But then I decided that if I do that, then my free speech has been silenced. That does not seem right either. If every blogger that shares my belief system, my paradigm stops blogging out of fear then what happens to our voice? Where is the diversity of thought. Where is freedom?

Prayers are always appreciated.
