I don’t understand this.

Penni, the lovely blogger over at Martha, Martha, has a post regarding the doubts she has about belonging in the Catholic church here. Penni has a mixed readership of Catholics and other Christians. I am perceiving a bit of Catholic subtle and not-so-subtle bashing in the comment section.

However, one comment has come up a couple of times, and that is something like, “but i think any time we put anything, religion included, in front of god it becomes an idol.”

I can sort of understand it from a Protestant perspective where churches and denominations seem to be somewhat interchangeable I guess. I’ve been lurking on the Evangelical ladies’ blogs enough to see quite a bit of church and denomination shopping.

But that is not true in my understanding coming completely from a Catholic background. How my Catholic faith, my Catholic Religion is a separate entity from God? From my perspective, my Catholic Faith is From God! It’s a gift from God, and it is the way God has revealed Himself to mankind. How in the world is it possible to say one is putting a true effort at living a Holy Catholic Life above a worship and adoration of God? To me it is the same thing as air and the need to breathe!!
