Spread the love

I took down my Nominee Graphic. The whole thing has just left a bad taste in my mouth. Another winner has been announced and all traces of the “offending” blog have been removed from the award site. Maybe most of the visitors there will feel safer? better? with that, I don’t know. It seems simply unjust to me.

I do not know if I will participate in future Carnivals of Beauty either. It’s nice that Catholics and Orthodox are considered “orthodox” enough to participate. Considering Catholics and Orthodox are the two oldest branches of Christianity it makes me wonder what the definition of “orthodox” is. I’m guessing it means “what we feel comfortable with.” I’m also guessing probably certain folks that had problems with a Mormon blog winning an award will have problems with Catholics and Orthodox women participating in such a carnival as well.

What I continually find myself amazed at is all the accolades coming to the contest organizer and the main naysayer regarding the way they mishandled this situation.

It seems to me that if we want to hand out praise for the most dignified, gracious lady – it should go to Daring Young Mom for the gentle, humble way that she handled herself during this fiasco. If one wants to look for an example of how a true Proverbs 31 woman handles herself, one need look no further than Kathryn of the Daring Young Mom blog.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

(How appropriate considering the entire mess is about the award for Best Humor!!)
