Spread the love

The lovely Awen Elizabeth writes!

Arwen/Elizabeth: “Find a Catholic who really understands the Church’s teaching on sexuality and lives her life in accordance with it, and you won’t find her complaining about how she’d love to be able to use birth control. She knows that marital love that doesn’t allow procreation is impoverished, less than what it’s meant to be. She knows that when she abandons herself in the sexual union for the sake of her love for God and her husband, she’s doing something that makes every aspect of her life better. Fuller. More perfect. You might feel sorry for her when you see her in the grocery store with her eight children, but I promise you that if she understands and has assented, she’s not feeling sorry for herself. “she’s doing something that makes every aspect of her life better. Fuller. More perfect. You might feel sorry for her when you see her in the grocery store with her eight children, but I promise you that if she understands and has assented, she’s not feeling sorry for herself.

I’d say that’s pretty insightful for a young lady who isn’t a mom yet.

I have never ever met a woman who told me she was sorry she had the kids she had. I have had quite a few women look longingly and lovingly at my baby and then say sadly that they were done having babies. My own great aunt told me one of her biggest regrets was that she stopped at two when she should have had six.

I’d like to say that having children DOES make you more perfect in the true Christian sense – through suffering, but suffering with a purpose. Suffering with a selflessness, with a daily action of picking up your cross and carrying it through the day. It’s not a perfection that Hollywood would see or condone, especially when it involves postpartum tummies and thighs (anyone ever note the push teh magazines give to these actresses to “get their body back two weeks after giving birth?”) but a perfection of the spirit, the soul, the will.

I’ m so impressed wtih Awen for understanding this at her age and without children. She is going to make a great mom!
