Spread the love

No… I haven’t disappeared! But I am working my proverbial butt off trying to keep up with things around here.

The baby is finally settling into a somewhat predictable pattern which allows me to get something done during the day. What I absolutely have to get done during the day, aside from nursing the baby, is the work for my medical transcription accounts. After my C-section I only took 1 week off – that’s it, and now I am doing my own accounts as well as covering for someone else’s vacation. This wasn’t because I just absolutely love to work or because I felt great – this was completely a financial decision. No work- no pay. It was that simple.

I was able to convince Miss Rosie, that her battery-powered swing is WONDERFUL! and she will now swing happily behind me for up to 2 hours while I type like a fiend!!

So what is NOT getting done is cleaning and other household work and I’ve had several fits about the fact that I am not the cleaning woman, or the housemaid and that I expect and DEMAND that these boys help me out around here. It’s not that they won’t do it, it’s more like they don’t see the dishes still on the table, or the milk spilled on the floor, or apparently that the dog took a crap in the middle of the living room unless this is pointed out to them. I can’t figure it out.

To add to the excitement, this is the double birthday week! Calvin turned 16 yesterday, and Gabe turns 10 on Friday. Usually for their birthdays we go to Lake Erie and have a birthday picnic, do the cake and presents thing, and then play in the lake the rest of the time. We will do that this weekend but it makes the boys a bit grumpy to not to SOMETHING on their actual anniversary of birth. (Frankly, I think they should do something for ME on their actual anniversary of birth.) I just do not have the time and energy to do that this year. So hopefully we can make the beach bash a good time.

I remember the year Gabe was born and Calvin was only 6. We were going to have a homebirth for Gabe and he was already very overdue when Calvin’s birthday came around. So we waited all day and didn’t tell him it was his birthday until we were sure that labor wasn’t going to start that day. Then in the evening we told him, “Surprise, today’s your birthday!!” and brought out the cake and presents and had some neighbor kids in to celebrate. That worked out really well. And then 3 days later, Gabe was born in the living room – an exciting week.

This is my last week covering for the vacation schedule. I really have enjoyed the new doctor I have been transcribing for and have learned some new tricks and some new words. Slow blogging until then, but I did want to point out that I started a homeschool blog for just my homeschool things. Here’s the link. Hopefully it will help me keep the homeschool things more organized and unclutter this blog a little bit.

See ya!
