Spread the love

I was sitting hear nursing Rosie, and trying to surf the net with the use of only one arm (the other arm holding the baby!) What a better place to start surfing then my own blog roll I thought. And what I found was a pleasant surprise. Over on the Musings of a Catholic Convert Blog, I found the web site of an old family friend from Nigeria – Father Chima!

Father Chima is just a delight. Always quick with a smile, great sense of humor – oh, and he use to kick the soccer ball around with Calvin when he was a little kid too. In fact,Father Chima still had some great moves on the soccer field when he was till here.

I’m pleased to say that one of my Lenten sacrifices a few years ago (gee, must be about 5-6 years now) was to type Father Chima’s Doctorate thesis. Although it turned out to not be much of a sacrifice as Father Chima insisted on paying me. He is charming – stubborn too!

Anyway, his whole point in coming to the United States was to complete his education and then go back to Nigeria to be of assistance to the poor orphans there. He has made great progress in building a school and meeting basic needs, but there is so much more that needs to be done. The name of his organization is NEAR and you can check it out for yourself here.
