The Curt Jester and the Summamamas had this picture on their blogs today.   I’d like to point out a link that the Jester noted I read this with great interest.

“Benedict returned to the papal dress code by donning red shoes — not the crimson velvet slippers of past popes, but a bright red leather lace-up style. In his later years, John Paul wore more comfortable walking shoes in a dark oxblood color and was buried in them. The shoes stood out because the new pope’s luminous white robes fell about three inches above his ankle, showing that even the papal tailor is in a transition stage.” It seems like Pope Benedict has decided to revoke this legislation for himself. See here. The question is, what does this mean?

After reading his comments after his first Mass, I tend to think we’re headed in the direction of other traditions being restored.

I tend to agree!
