The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is featuring my son Calvin on Wednesday Night, December 8, 2004, 11:00 p.m. Eastern. The show reruns on Thursday here at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., but check your local listings!

The crew flew into my hometown last Thursday. They basically transformed my living room into a t.v. studio. They moved furniture, blocked windows, put in all kinds of equipment. I got to watch the t.v. on a monitor. The parts of my home you can see look… well not too bad considering we spent the previous 48 hours trying to whip the place into shape!

We had cookies, pop, water and ice for everyone which they really appreciated. They had just come from lunch, but as the afternoon wore on I think every one needed a little refreshment. They were here approximately 4 hours!

The only thing that went a little wrong was that during the taping, my Tom cat, the one who thinks he’s a cave cat and rarely comes out for family let alone strangers, decided to check out the action from under the dining room table. Apparently something made him rather itchy because he started to scratch himself and his collar bell could be heard tinkling throughout the rooms. I’m sure they’ll edit it out but it was kind of funny the way Bill took off when everyone started looking at him!

Ed Helms

was our correspondent, and he was really a nice guy. He asked Calvin some very important questions as well as some silly ones. I can’t wait to see the segment!

My 6 year-old, Noah, took a real liking to Mr. Helms. By the end of the taping they were drinking pop and having a burping contest… you just gotta like a guy in a suit who will take the time to go burp for burp with a little kid. I liked him.

The segment also feartured an interview with Ms. Didonato, a member of the school board, and with Senator Coughlin, our champion. I’d share details that the crew shared with me, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Be sure to watch the show and let me know what you think!!
