The homeschool regs in my state aren’t too bad. I have to give a list of my intended text books, an outline of the curriculum, for educational purposes, fill out a form, send in test scores or a portfolio evaluation, and that’s it.

I use to really sweat the curriculum outline. The first year I wrote reams about how comprehensive my kindergarten curriculum was going to be and I included a cover letter! It was rather a let down to get the standard form letter giving me the green light to homeschool.

The following years, with more students, instead of going through all of that trouble, I went to the copy store and copied all of the table of contents of all of the text books spending a tidy sum in copy fees! One year I inadvertently forgot to send in the contents of my 6th grader’s math book and I was on pins and needles waiting for the school board to call. I thought when they called I would explain that it was a mistake and offer to send the copies I had made and waiting. I even debated whether I should do a pre-emptive call to let them know I goofed and that I would make it all right.

It turns out, they didn’t even notice. In fact, last year I had my oldest down as a homeschooler AND as a member of the Public E-school and they didn’t seem to notice or care.

So I wised up. World book has a very nice and tidy scope and sequence for each grade. I just print and send that. If you are looking to do the same or want some ideas for next year, The World Book Site might be very helpful to you in planning your course of study.
