“I’m just not cut out to be Catholic.”

I’ve got to respond to this comment from the young man at The Tower who apparently is leaving the church. I really don’t believe it. I think really EVERYONE is meant to be part of the church instituted by Jesus Christ. Not everyone gets the opportunity perhaps for various reasons perhaps, but you don’t need special genes, or a certain intelligence or a high understanding of theology to be in the church. The voluminous lives of the saints speaks to that. Anyone, man, woman, rich, poor, child, adult, elderly, farmer, fisherman, lawyer, doctor, lay or religious is cut out to be part of the church.

That said, it’s not easy. Sometimes it’s damn hard and sometimes even painful, but as Peter said, “Where can we go?” The faith part is in believing with all your heart that being on this path will ultimately be worth it.
