A Decline in standards

A decade ago, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned that the level of deviant behavior in our society had surpassed what the community could “afford to recognize,” and as a result, we have been redefining deviancy “down” so that conduct that was previously stigmatized is now acceptable. I think that is what we are really seeing in this recent rash of business scandals. There has been an incremental dissipation of standards over time. We grow more comfortable with improper behavior in steps.

Well, yea, that’s sort of the consequence of the widespread rejection of the principals in Humanae Vitae.
