Spread the love

I also had three swim meets this week.

I hate swim meets. You sit there, you sweat, you’re bored out of your mind for 2 hours, and then your swimmer is up and for two minutes you’re cheering your lungs out… and then you sit for another hour and half before your swimmer is up again. They also cost a fortune – $3.00 to get in, $3.00 for a heat sheet, $4.00 for a hot dog, $1.50 for a can of coke etc. etc.

Nonetheless I have 3 swimmers this year. This is Sam’s second season on the team and he is still uncertain about what to do although he feels confident about next week. He is just a shade off of his 50 Freestyle and if he can improve by a few 10ths of a second, he’s in! Calvin, on the other hand, is a veteran and really doesn’t even need my help much, although he comes over to check his stats and stuff with me. For the first time since he has been swimming for this team he finally won the coveted Swimmer of the Meet!! I was proud of him : )

Gabe swam his first dual meet. He was very serious, very determined, but very careful. He would not jump in until the other guys went first because he didn’t want to make a mistake! I think he’ll be OK after Christmas.

and as I sit there I wonder how I would have managed all this with a baby anyhow…

ADDENDUM: My oldest won first place in the 200 IM, and #2 son won a 4th and a 6th place ribbon. Not too shabby a start for the season. Guess that will mean more meets!!
